I didn't find the noise to be that terrible to justify the aggressive NR (I almost never use that much NR period), plus you shouldn't really equalize it based on trying to even out noise performance.what you really should be doing is tuning the 7D image to taste to be as best as you think it could be with its noise and subject detail, not trying to match the 5DMKIII in its lack of noise + lesser subject detail due to crop. Trying to decide if I should sell my 7D and get a second 5D III. For wildlife that means a 1.4X will work on the 100-400 anda 2.0X on any telephoto that is F4. The locking mode dial, silent shutter, less noise, and better ISO performance would also be a plus. Hopefully, that will still mean 5DIII's AF and ability to focus at f8. Just the same, in my case I plan to keep the 7D. With a 1.4 TC my 400 f5.6 will be almost the same effective reach (1.4 vs 1.6) with 22 mp vs 18mp.
